Endoscopic Brow Lift vs. Traditional Brow Lift
As men and women age, the skin on the forehead can become lax and loose, causing the brows to appear heavy or tired. A brow lift is a procedure that focuses on reshaping and restoring the eyebrows’ natural, youthful shape. Dr. Fichadia performs various techniques to achieve a brow lift, including a traditional brow lift and endoscopic brow lift. Read on to learn more about these different techniques and which one is right for you.
What is an Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift is a minimally invasive technique during which the eyebrow is elevated to a more youthful position. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia. A series of small incisions will be created hidden in the hair, and a long, thin tube attached to a video camera called an endoscope is inserted. This allows Dr. Fichadia to work on the internal forehead structures without the need for large incisions.
Benefits of an Endoscopic Brow Lift
There are many benefits associated with an endoscopic brow lift, including:
- Minimally invasive: The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and there is minimal downtime because, unlike traditional brow lifts, only small incisions are made.
- Fewer post-op complications: Because this procedure is minimally invasive, there is less chance of any complications arising.
- Less scarring: Because the incisions created are so small, scarring is less noticeable.
What is a Traditional Brow Lift
A traditional brow lift is performed under anesthesia and involves the creation of an incision that begins just above the ear and follow the hairline up across the forehead to the next ear. Dr. Fichadia will skillfully lift the forehead skin to adjust the tissues, muscles, and fat. Excess skin will then be removed and the incisions will be closed.
Benefits of a Traditional Brow Lift
The main benefit associated with a traditional brow lift is more dramatic outcomes. Because there is a larger incision, Dr. Fichadia can lift and reposition more tissue and muscle than during an endoscopic brow lift.
